Hello, I’m Joy

With a lifetime of curiosity and over a decade of experience delivering tours across Europe, I am so grateful to have found a job that allows me to share the places I’m lucky enough to call home and the stories of why I love them.

After graduating from the University of Glasgow with an MA in Ancient History, Joy decided she had had enough of reading about faraway places and wanted to get out to see them for herself. She spent several years working on cruise ships that sailed the rivers of Europe, developing a real soft spot for the Rhine.

Since returning to the UK she has worked for a number of heritage organisations, including the National Trust and Historic Scotland. She completed a course in Heritage Interpretation with the Association of Heritage Interpreters and GEM, knowledge that was put to good use when designing information panels for use in Glasgow Cathedral.

While working towards her Scottish Tourist Guide qualification with the STGA, accredited by the Federation of European Guides, she began working for the Iona Community and assisted in raising more than £3.7 million for the Iona Abbey Capital Appeal enabling vital maintenance and accessibility work to be carried out.
